Kelly Laws is the Founder/CEO/Administrator of The Purpose Academy Virtual Learning Center. The global virtual school is the only school that is founded by an American woman and is using an innovative way to teach core and elective courses for 7th and 8th grade students. Kelly is also the Founder and CEO of The Global Virtual School Accreditation Alliance which will be the only virtual accreditation school that will incorporate global standards. She labels herself "The Virtual School Expert" and has been an asset to the virtual education community helping prepare teachers for the virtual and hybrid educational experience. During the height of the pandemic, Kelly founded the Facebook group, "Teachers Pivoting In Purpose For E-Learning" to help teachers and administrators pivot in education by exposing the educational community to new technology and apps through on hands professional development sessions on her page.

Kelly has over 26 years in field of education and started out as a substitute teacher in the Gary Community School Corporation. She later went on to become an English teacher where she taught 9th-12th grade in addition to 6th-8th grade as well. She also had a short stint as a 2nd grade teacher where she focused on literacy to help her students not only master reading comprehension skills but also help them to focus on math basics and communication skills. Her desire was to help her students become effective verbal and written communicators. To add to her many accomplishments, Kelly also spearheaded a short meet and greet conference with the Title I Program Director to help parents and teachers navigate through services Title I would provide for the school, the teachers, and the parents. During her teaching career, Kelly was awarded $1000 for having the highest ELA test scores. She served on several leadership committees at several schools where she gained a better understanding of leadership. Her leadership skills landed her on the leadership board which allowed her to select qualified candidates for teaching positions as a local school. She also served on the ELA leadership team where she was responsible, along with the other ELA teachers, for creating the ELA Pacing Guide for the school year. Kelly had the awesome privilege of mentoring seasoned and new teachers in curriculum implementation and classroom behavior techniques. 

Kelly ended her almost 26-year teaching career at a local school district as a Behavior Specialist/Behavior Support Coordinator where she focused on student behavior, attendance, and truancy issue to which she offered solutions to help curb the truancy problems during the pandemic.  Also, during the pandemic Kelly decided to open her own virtual school which will focus on preparing her students becoming global leaders, trendsetters, pioneers, and entrepreneurs to help prepare them for our new global society.  Her school will focus on Project Based Learning or PBL, technology and STEM to usher her students into the 21st century as global influencers. She believes students learn not only through direct instruction but also by exploring world issues, by solving world problems using critical thinking skills, and by using rhetoric to communicate through written and verbal communication.  Her hope is that The Purpose Academy's students become global leaders, global trendsetters, global entrepreneurs, and global influencers.
